Group Bread Making Days

Learn the fundamentals of bread making in the picturesque Cumbrian countryside with this one-day course for groups at Heron Corn Mill!

Join bread maker Nell Dale to learn all about making bread using wheat, rye and spelt flour freshly milled at Heron Corn Mill. This is a friendly and relaxed ‘learning through doing’ experience for 6-7 people, taking place in our purpose built shepherds hut.

We will begin by looking at the key elements in bread making – flour, yeast, water, salt – before moving on to the fundamentals of mixing, fermenting, moulding, proving and baking. Whilst the doughs are left to rise there will be a quick tour of Heron Corn Mill for an explanation of the Stone ground process, and to see the range of flours we produce. Lunch will consist of wholemeal bread buns you will have baked yourself followed by tasty rye scones. (Please bring your favourite filling for the buns.)

Cost for this one-day experience is just £35.00 per person with all ingredients and materials provided. Please note a deposit of £20 per person is required to secure your booking.
