Kate’s Super Bake Days
Founder of ‘Aunty Cake’ and Bread of Heron group leader Kate leads regular standalone workshops in the art of cake & biscuit, and bread making! These one-day workshops are suitable for both novices and seasoned bakers alike who want to try new recipes using spelt, rye and wholemeal flours, all freshly milled at Heron Corn Mill!
Saturday 1st September 2018: Cake Baking
Over the course of the day Kate will show you how to bake her ‘Healthy Cake’ using spelt flour, which is packed with seeds, fruit (fresh and dried) and yoghurt. You’ll also be baking a Dark Banana Ginger cake using wholemeal flour, and either rye based cookies, crackers or cake!
Saturday 6th October 2018: Bread Making
You will make three breads (or possibly four, depending on time!) using each of the flours ground at the mill; wheat, spelt and rye. These will include rolls, a tin loaf and a shaped loaf.
Saturday 17th November 2018: Cake Baking
As on previous cake days, you will make a selection of three sweet treats using each of the mill flours. These will be different bakes to Kate’s previous cake days.
Saturday 1st December 2018: Christmas Bread Making
The breads you make during the day, using each of the flours produced at the mill, will be a mixture of sweet and savoury bakes with a Christmas theme and flavour!
Kate is also available for bespoke group baking days for 4 – 6 people outside of her scheduled baking days, email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to discuss possible dates!
Each workshop runs from 9:30 am – 3:00 pm and costs £40 per person, with lunch and refreshments provided.
The Christmas Bread Making workshop will cost £50 per person due to the cost of extra ingredients.
A £20 deposit is required per person when booking.
