Powsowdie

Next Session: Monday 29th April (11.00am – 2.00pm)

Artist John Hall and baker Kate Maddock invite you to Powsowdie – a project aimed at older people in the community, which combines food and music for free lunchtime sessions of fun and reminiscence!

Each Powsowdie will have its own unique theme, and includes a hearty and nutritious lunch, freshly prepared by Kate and her team of volunteers on the day!

  • Monday 29th April: A Spoonful of Sugar (11.00am – 2.00pm)
    What do you remember about the cures and medicines from your youth? Tell us all about your grandma’s remedies, cure-alls and herbals!
  • Wednesday 22nd May: (Talk About) Pop Muzik (11.00am – 2.00pm)
    What was your favourite music growing up? Were you a Hippy, Skinhead, New Romantic or Punk?
  • Wednesday 19th June: Food, Glorious Food (11.00am – 2.00pm)
    Let’s talk about food – our favourites and our hates! What’s good for us and what isn’t?
  • Wednesday 31st July: Video Killed the Radio Star (11.00am – 2.00pm)
    What are your earliest memories of TV? Did you have a TV in the house, or was radio your only source of entertainment?
  • Monday 23rd September: The Style at the Time (11.00am – 2.00pm)
    Were you a dedicated follower of fashion in the 60s and 70s? Were you all about flower-Power, flares and crushed velvets?
  • Wednesday 30th October: The Days of Our Lives (11.00am – 2.00pm)
    We want to hear all about your special days -a loved one’s birthday or an anniversary perhaps?
  • Wednesday 27th November: The House of Fun! (11.00am – 2.00pm)
    Fun with words, that is! Let your imagination run free with rhyming couplets, nonsense rhymes, alliteration and limericks!
  • Wednesday 11th December: What the Dickens? (11.00am – 2.00pm)
    We want to hear all about your favourite festive works, but let’s be ‘Merry at Christmas’ and not have a ‘Bah! Humbug’ to be heard please!
