Textiles Workshops with Stella Adams-Schofield

Develop your own projects and learn new skills and techniques at these relaxed and friendly Club Style workshops. The workshops are all suitable for any level of ability and, whether you are a complete beginner or have lots of experience, you will be supported in developing and creating your own beautiful and unique projects.

During each workshop there will be:

  • Tutor support and guidance for developing your own projects;
  • Opportunities to learn from and share with other learners;
  • Tips and techniques;
  • A tutor talk with images, samples and demonstrations.

Hand Embroidery

  • 10th January ‘Reverse Applique’
    Learn how to incorporate reverse applique into your hand embroidery projects.
  • 7th February ‘Embroidered Borders’
    Learn how to create and work narrow repeating designs for hand embroidered borders.
  • 7th March ‘Blackwork Basics’
    An introduction to the beautiful traditional embroidery technique of Blackwork.
  • 4th April ‘Blackwork Patterns’
    Learn how to create and work your own tonal Blackwork patterns.

Patchwork and Quilting

  • 16th January ‘Indian Kantha Quilting’
    Learn about the beautiful layered and rippled technique of Kantha Quilting and it’s roots in India.
  • 13th February ‘Basic Blocks’
    An introduction to basic blocks and the quilt designs that can be created using basic blocks.
  • 13th March ‘Signature, Friendship and Album Quilts’
    Learn about the historical significance of Signature, Friendship and Album Quilts and work your own block.
  • 10th April ‘Mastering Machine Quilting’
    Get to grips with quilting using the sewing machine and master your quilting foot, walking foot and free machine

Art Textiles

  • 24th January ‘Colour Theory’
    Learn the basic principles of colour theory and how to apply them to your own textile art work.
  • 28th February ‘Pattern’
    Explore pattern and incorporate pattern into your own textile art work.
  • 21st March ‘Mixing Techniques’
    Learn how other textile artists mix techniques in their work and explore mixing techniques in your own textile art work.
  • 18th April ‘Developing a Colour Palette’
    Use a photograph or object to develop a colour palette and consider how you might use this in your textile art work.

All workshops are held in the barn and run from 10am – 4pm.

Each workshop costs £35.00 which includes tea, coffee and light refreshments.

Stella also runs a loyalty scheme across all workshops which awards a £5 discount for every fifth workshop attended.

Felting Workshops with Erika Grime

Join Erika for ‘Painting with Wool’ felting workshops, which are suitable for both beginners and advanced level felters. Make useful household items, wearable art pieces and felted artwork using materials like merino wool, silk, milk protein, nettle fibre, recycled sari silk and more! The group meets one Monday a month, and smaller groups ensure plenty of attention from the tutor.
